1. Parties and scope
This agreement is between David Jeremic, Cetinjska 26, 11080 Beograd (Zemun), Serbia ("we", "us") and the person who obtained a licence to the GoaSynth software ("you"). It applies to the compiled plugin builds we deliver. It does not apply to the source code, which is licensed separately — see §2.
Nothing in this agreement limits any right you have under mandatory consumer protection law in your country of residence.
2. Two licences, one plugin
GoaSynth exists under two licences at the same time, and it is worth being precise about which one does what:
- The source code is free software under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPLv3). Anyone — including you, whether or not you paid — may read it, run it, study it, modify it, compile it and redistribute it under the terms of that licence. We cannot take those rights away, and we do not try. The complete corresponding source is published at https://github.com/DakaGoa/GoaSynth.
- This agreement covers everything the AGPLv3 does not. The AGPLv3 says nothing about who delivers and updates your build, who answers your emails, how many machines a purchase covers, what the GoaSynth name may be used for, or who is liable if the plugin misbehaves. That is what the rest of this document is for.
3. What your licence gives you
Subject to this agreement, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual licence to:
- install and use the delivered GoaSynth builds on up to three devices that you personally use (for example a studio desktop, a laptop and a spare);
- use GoaSynth in commercial music — releases, live sets, remixes, sample packs, film, games and client work — without royalties, per-track fees or credit requirements;
- make backup copies and keep your installers for as long as you like;
- modify the software and distribute your modified version under the AGPLv3.
The licence is personal to you. It is not exclusive, and it does not transfer automatically if you sell your hardware or your studio.
4. What it does not allow
- Passing our work off as yours. Do not remove copyright notices or authorship information from the software or its documentation, and do not present the unmodified plugin as a product you built.
- Using the GoaSynth name for a modified build. "GoaSynth", the GoaSynth logo and the factory preset names are our marks. If you distribute a modified version, you must give it a different name and must not suggest that it is an official release or that we endorse it. This clause is not a restriction on the code — it only concerns the names and branding.
- Sharing a serial instead of a licence. Sending friends the installer is how the AGPLv3 already works — they may build or obtain the plugin for free — so we do not police it. A serial is different: it is signed for one machine and will not activate on another, so passing one around simply does not work. We do ask that you not resell licences to our builds as if you were us, and that you not attempt to defeat the activation or the trial (§7).
- Breaking the law with the software, including infringing anyone's copyright, or using the Steinberg VST name or logo in a way their trademark rules forbid.
If you redistribute the plugin or a modified version, the AGPLv3 requires you to make the corresponding source available. That obligation comes from the AGPLv3, not from this document, and it applies whether or not you paid for a licence.
5. Seats, bands and studios
One licence covers one person on up to three devices. If two people work with GoaSynth — bandmates, a producer and an engineer, a shared studio — each of them needs their own licence. There is no per-project, per-release or per-track licence, and no size limit on the music you make with it.
Because a serial is signed against one machine, we issue that allowance as one serial per computer: send us up to three machine IDs on a single licence and you receive three serials at no extra cost. Moving to a new computer is free as well (§7) — the seat count limits how many machines run GoaSynth at once, not how often you upgrade your hardware.
6. Updates, support and end of life
- Updates. Every release in the 1.x line is included. If we ever ship a 2.0 with substantial new functionality, we may charge for it — your 1.x licence will keep working, and your existing build will not be disabled.
- Support. Write to goasynth.support@gmail.com and we will help on a best-effort basis. We target a reply within two working days; we cannot promise a fix, an SLA, or support for every DAW, plugin format and operating system combination.
- Platforms. The builds we currently deliver are VST3 for Windows, macOS and Linux. We do not promise to support future operating system versions, but we will say so clearly if that ever changes rather than let a build quietly rot.
- End of life. If we ever stop developing GoaSynth, you keep your builds, your presets and your rights under §3 — an update stopping is not a licence expiring.
7. Activation, the trial and your data
The trial. The first time you open GoaSynth it starts a 24-hour trial covering every feature — the full sound engine, both filters, the effects, both sequencers, the AI patch designer and the factory bank. The start time is recorded in a small file in the shared public documents folder so that it cannot be reset by creating another user account on the same computer. When the 24 hours are up, instances render silence until they are activated; a valid serial (or our master key) supersedes the trial entirely.
Activation is offline. GoaSynth does not check a licence over the internet, does not phone home, does not require an account and sends us nothing. What it needs is a serial — an RSA-signed statement of your computer's machine ID. That machine ID is shown on the activation screen and is a fingerprint of that machine, so a serial activates the machine it was issued for and no other, and a ledger file on the machine records which machine each serial belongs to, refusing one that is already bound elsewhere. There is no dongle, no login, no subscription check and no expiry: once activated, that build stays activated.
Keep your order email. Your serial, or the .goalicense file containing it, is
part of your purchase. Losing it does not invalidate your licence — write to
goasynth.support@gmail.com and we will re-issue it. Re-installing your operating
system or changing hardware changes the machine ID, and in that case we release the old binding and
issue a fresh serial free of charge. The plugin can also deactivate itself, which frees that
machine's ledger entry.
What we ask of you. Do not share, publish or resell your serial; do not activate more machines than §5 allows; and do not attempt to defeat the activation or the trial, including editing the trial file or the ledger. Nothing here is used to monitor you: the plugin reports nothing, and the machine ID is the only machine information we ever receive, once, when your licence is issued.
Cloud AI is optional, and it is your own connection. The AI patch designer runs entirely offline by default. If you choose to switch it to a cloud engine — Gemini, an OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or a base URL of your own — and supply your own API key, the plugin sends the prompt you typed directly to that provider, under your account and their terms. We are not a party to that, receive nothing from it and cannot see your prompts. Your presets, drawn wavetables, project data and audio stay on your own machine either way. See the Privacy Policy for the full detail.
8. Your music and your presets
Music, presets, patches and wavetables you make with GoaSynth are entirely yours. This agreement makes no claim over your output, and we claim no licence to your recordings, including anything created with the AI patch designer — whether generated by the built-in offline designer or by a cloud model using your own API key. A patch is a set of parameter values written on your own machine, and nothing in it is owned by us or by any AI provider.
9. Warranty
GoaSynth is provided "as is". We do not warrant that it will be free of defects, that it will work with every DAW, host or operating system, or that it will produce a particular musical result. What we do warrant is that the software is as described on the product page and that we are entitled to license it to you.
If you are a consumer, your statutory rights for defective digital content are unaffected: if GoaSynth does not work as described, you are entitled to a remedy regardless of the 14-day refund window — see the Refund Policy.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising out of or relating to this agreement is limited to the amount you paid for the licence, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, lost recordings, or damage to your equipment, project files or other software.
Nothing in this section excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, or for any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
11. Term and termination
This agreement runs for as long as you use the software. You may end it at any time by deleting your copies. We may end it if you materially breach §4; if we do, you must stop using our builds and stop using our marks, and we may refuse future support or updates.
Ending this agreement does not withdraw any rights you already have under the AGPLv3: you may continue to use, modify and distribute the source and any builds you compiled under that licence. We cannot revoke what the AGPLv3 has already granted, and we would not want to.
12. Governing law
This agreement is governed by the law of Serbia, with the courts of Belgrade having jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection afforded by the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
13. Changes to this agreement
We may update this agreement for future releases. The version you accepted when you obtained your licence continues to govern that copy of the software. Material changes will be dated at the top of this page, and we will not apply them retroactively to a purchase you already made.
